Why Do I Always Have to Be Velma?

Yesterday was not a good day. In the heat of the Christmas panic at work, our computer system went down. This included our phones. When you work in a call center – it’s kind of important to have phones work. When things finally got working and I was able to get my email, which was full of email from customers wanting to know why our phones didn’t work, I had only a few hours left in the day to to put out a couple hot burning fires.

It was in the afternoon as I was washing my hands in the restroom when I looked in the mirror and realized I looked like Velma. Yup — Velma from Scooby Doo. I wasvelma1.jpg too tired to put in my contacts in the morning so I wore my glasses to work. I also wore a light orange shirt. Yes – absolutely — I looked like Velma (see my picture to the right.)

When I finally realized who I looked like I bemoaned my appearance to a co-worker. She tried to cheer my up by saying that Velma was the smart one who always figured things out. Well guess what? I’m tired of figuring things out. I want to be Daphne and run off with Fred to “check things out” in the other room. Oh come on! You know Velma did all the work and Daphne and Fred were just making out in the other room. Dammit I’m sick of being Velma!
